Can Glucosamine Save Lives? New Study Shows Reduced Risk of Cancer Mortality

Cancer is a devastating disease that affects millions of people worldwide. Despite significant advances in cancer research and treatment, the number of cancer cases continues to rise. Therefore, identifying new ways to prevent or treat cancer is a critical research priority. Recently, a new study has found that taking glucosamine supplements may reduce the risk of cancer mortality.

What is Glucosamine?

It is a popular dietary supplement that is commonly used to support joint health. It is a natural compound that is found in the body and plays a role in the production of cartilage. Glucosamine supplements are available in different forms, including:

  • capsules
  • tablets
  • powders

They are widely used to relieve joint pain and stiffness associated with osteoarthritis.

In recent years, there has been growing interest in the potential health benefits of glucosamine beyond joint health. Several studies have suggested that glucosamine may have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that could be beneficial for a wide range of health conditions. For example, research has shown that glucosamine may:

  • reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease
  • improve glucose metabolism in people with diabetes

Now, a new study published in the American Journal of Epidemiology has found that taking glucosamine supplements may also reduce the risk of cancer mortality.

The study followed over 400,000 participants for an average of 8 years and found that those who reported taking glucosamine supplements had a 17% lower risk of dying from cancer than those who did not take the supplement.

Nevertheless, these findings are encouraging and suggest that glucosamine may have a role in cancer prevention and treatment. If further research confirms these findings, glucosamine supplements may become a new tool in the fight against cancer.

While more research is needed to confirm these findings, they offer hope that new approaches to cancer prevention and treatment may be on the horizon. As always, it is important to consult with a healthcare professional before starting any new supplement regimen. Supplements from Asher Longevity Institute can also help you to live a healthy life.
